Your life changes every time you blink
It was early morning and I was on my way to a meeting.
Five days previously, I was involved in an accident when a truck slammed into the back of my car. Fortunately, I was not injured but I made me more aware of the other vehicles on the road.
This morning, I passed a group of cyclists out on an early morning ride. I thought to myself how vulnerable they are cycling on a road with solid metal vehicles hurtling past them.
I stopped ahead of the group at a red traffic light with the intention to turn left. Suddenly I heard a crash, saw metal and bike parts flying and watched helplessly as a truck drove through the group of stationary cyclists to the right of me. A man cried out “Oh my God! Oh my God my feet”. Pieces of bicycle were strewn all over the road in front of me.
I opened my door to see a man lying on the ground in intense pain. I asked him where he was hurt. He cried out: “My God, my feet are so sore! They rode over my feet!” I did what I could to reassure him and make him comfortable as I looked around for more bodies. To my surprise and relief, I could only see bicycles and bicycle parts. Somehow the other group of cyclists had escaped with minor or no injuries. People came to assist, and the emergency services were called. A man’s life was changed forever and so was mine.
This incident reminded me once again that life can change in a moment and then a whole new journey awaits. It also helped me to remember to be grateful for all one has and is. When you blink and open your eyes again, nothing is the same. Stop for just a moment and be grateful for NOW, as you will never have the opportunity experience any moment again.
In nature, everything without a purpose dies. Nature is the most efficient system we know. The mere fact that we are alive is testimony that we have a purpose.
Do you need guidance in finding your purpose?
